About
Rob Hodgson is an illustrator, author and English gnome.
Bit more About
"Rob Hodgson was born in a seaside town in the south of England in 1988. Today he lives in Bristol where he spends his days making a mess and turning it into quality illustration projects and books.
Rob studied for a degree in illustration at the University of Plymouth, graduating in 2010. He then worked in a design studio for several years, creating and directing projects with a small team of misfits.
In 2017 he released his first childrenβs picture book, The Cave, and since then has published a small bookshelf more, which have been translated into over a dozen languages.
In 2019 The Cave was selected by Booktrust for their Time To Read campaign, who gave a free copy to every school starter in England.
Approaching his work with a curiosity of techniques, he is equally to be found rummaging around in the trash for unlikely materials, as he is buried in a computer working on new digital processes.
He cites Yoko Ono, Spike Jonze, John Cage, Corita Kent, Vic & Bob, Alexander Girard, Ed Templeton, Arthur Russell, Brian Wilson and the Imagineers among his influences.
Recently he is interested in recycled materials / analogue ephemera / spatial design / paper making / interactive storytelling
Some interests include animals, skateboards and the psychology of perception."
Some clients include; Penguin, IKEA, Chobani, Facebook, the Scouts, Mudpuppy, Magic Cat, Djeco, Thames & Hudson, Ladybird Books, Quarto, Laurence King, Lagom, Le Chocolat des Francais, Tattly, Graniph, Cotton & Steel.
