About
Rob Hodgson is an illustrator, author and English gnome.
Bit more About
"Rob Hodgson was born in a seaside town in the south of England in 1988. Today he lives in Bristol where he spends his days making a mess and turning it into quality illustration projects and books.
Rob studied for a degree in illustration at the University of Plymouth, graduating in 2010. He then worked in a design studio for several years, creating and directing projects with a small team of misfits.
In 2017 he released his first childrenβs picture book, The Cave. Since then, he has published a small bookshelf more, and his books have been translated into over a dozen languages.
In 2019 The Cave was selected by Booktrust for their Time To Read campaign, who gave a free copy to every school starter in England.
Approaching his work with a curiosity about techniques, he is just as likely to be found rummaging in the trash for unlikely materials as he is buried in a computer, experimenting with new digital processes.
He cites Yoko Ono, Spike Jonze, John Cage, Corita Kent, Vic & Bob, Alexander Girard, Ed Templeton, Arthur Russell, Brian Wilson and the Imagineers among his influences.
His work often explores play, texture, character design, interactivity, and the hidden world of nature.
Some interests include animals, skateboards and eating bread."
Some clients include; Penguin, IKEA, Chobani, Facebook, the Scouts, Mudpuppy, Magic Cat, Djeco, Thames & Hudson, Ladybird Books, Quarto, Laurence King, Lagom, Le Chocolat des Francais, Tattly, Graniph, Cotton & Steel.
